It's my first day of gardening and I've made and exciting discovery: there is a small raspberry plant hidden in the corner of our back yard!

That is exciting! It feels like finding gold. Now to compete with Nature for the fruit. I'm currently at war with the rabbits- particularly a wee one who's decided my garden is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Definitely a relative of Peter.
I'm picturing your bunny in a little blue sport coat like Peter Rabbit! Too adorable to hate! Nature must have made rabbits pretty much the cutest animal ever in order to compensate for their rampant annoyingness.
Yesterday while I was working in the garden I noticed that some raspberries were nice and ripe so I reached over to pick them. Then I had this impulse to look over my shoulder and make sure that no one was watching. I felt like I was about to shop lift or something, like since I didn't start the plant it would be some sort of violation to eat its fruit.
